What is a Intensive Outpatient Program?
Intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) offer structured and comprehensive treatment for individuals struggling with substance use disorders. These programs are a step-down from partial hospitalization programs and provide a level of care that falls between inpatient and outpatient treatment.
Our program, spanning 9 to 12 weeks, provides education on addiction, its impacts, and the creation of a personalized treatment plan through both one-on-one and group therapy sessions. Involving the family in learning about the addiction process significantly improves the chances of recovery. Family and friends are not only invited but also encouraged to take part in the family program.
Treatment consists of individual and group counseling sessions. Group sessions include therapy and educational groups. The group sessions address the following areas:
- Personal growth
- Basic alcohol education
- Assertiveness training
- Denial and acceptance
- Family alcohol education
- Basic drug education
- Dynamics of dependency and addiction
- Adult children of alcoholics
- Living sober
- Information about HIV/AIDS
- Information about tuberculosis
- Parenting issues in recovery, as appropriate
The main goal of IOPs is to help individuals develop the skills and tools necessary for long-term recovery while also addressing any co-occurring disorders. This is achieved through a combination of individual therapy, group therapy, and educational sessions.
How a Intensive Outpatient Program Helps With Addiction
Intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) are a popular treatment option for individuals struggling with substance abuse. These programs offer a comprehensive and structured approach to recovery, while also providing flexibility for patients to continue with their daily responsibilities. IOPs typically involve therapy sessions several times a week, allowing individuals to receive intensive treatment while still living at home or in sober living accommodations.
The main aim of IOPs is to equip individuals with the necessary tools and skills for long-term recovery, while also addressing any underlying issues. This makes them an effective choice for those transitioning from more intensive levels of care, such as inpatient rehab or partial hospitalization programs.
At Alpine Recovery, we understand that each individual’s journey to recovery is unique. That’s why our intensive outpatient program (IOP) is designed to be flexible and personalized according to the specific needs of our clients.
